MISSION STATEMENT
The Divestment Support Committee is an ad-hoc initiative supporting divestment from
Israel. Based in the United States, it provides information resources, direct training, and
promotional materials to groups advocating divestment from Israel.  The goal is to promote
non-violent efforts in the name of peace and justice in Palestine-Israel.  

HISTORY
The DSC was founded by former student divestment activists in December, 2005.  

ORGANIZERS
Wendy Ake - She is a graduate of Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio where she
organized with The Committee for Justice in Palestine a student and community group and
other social justice organizations. While active with CJP, she worked on the group's
divestment campaign. She currently works with Badil, the Palestinian Resource Center for
Refugee and Residency Rights as the English Language Media Officer and is a founding
board member of the Columbus Community Radio Foundation.

Noura Erakat -  A graduate of UC-Berkeley, and its Boalt Hall School of Law, she co-founded
the Berkeley Law Students for Justice in Palestine.  She is now works with the US
Campaign to End the Occupation in Washington, DC, as a grassroots organizer and legal
advocate.

Matt Horton - He graduated from Occidental College in Los Angeles and currently serves as
Director of Public Relations for the Washington Report on Middle East Affairs.  Over the past
6 years, he has been involved in solidarity work with the Palestinian people, including with
the Palestine Solidarity Movement (The National Student Conference of the Palestine
Solidarity Movement), the International Solidarity Movement in both Palestine and North
America, the Stop U.S. Tax-funded Aid to Israel Now! (SUSTAIN) network of chapters, as well
as with artists, churches and neighborhoods groups.  He has also been involved in
solidarity work with Ireland and Latin America.

Fayyad Sbaihat - Recently, he graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.  He
co-founded the Wisconsin Divestment Project (of Al-Awda, Wisconsin), and wrote a weekly
column for the campus newspaper.

Will Youmans - Graduated from University of Michigan, and UC-Berkeley's School of Law.
He co-founded the Students for Justice in Palestine.  Currently, he is a columnist with the
Arab-American News.
